The Best Start to a Good Life

Do you ever wonder if you're doing enough? The world today is changing so fast, you must wonder sometimes how on earth you're going to give your little one the best start!

With One Tree Montessori, you're choosing a system with a 100-year track record and a focus on foundational "soft" skills. Because life isn't about what you know, it's about how you use your resources. That's why our pre-primary classes nurture independence and build confidence.

Here, your child will be surrounded by appealing, interesting activities every day. Each lesson is designed for a specific developmental need and the classroom is continually updated and adapted to grow with the children.

Within a few months, your child will have learnt practical skills that make looking after themselves easier. They will learn how to make their own food, clean up after themselves and solve problems with their friends. They will learn to stand up for what's right, keep themselves entertained and look after their surroundings.

Adaptive Curriculum

Each child goes through the same sequence of exercises, but at their own pace and according to their needs.

hands-on learning

Whether it's learning how to tie your shoe laces or count to 100, every skill is developed by working with specially designed materials.

3-Year program

Montessori schools are built around child development. To get the full benefit, children must complete the full three-year program.

safe social environment

In our mixed-age classrooms, young children can learn from older ones. No one feels "behind" because of the wide range of abilities and skills.

Features of Our Montessori Class

English & German

Our medium of instruction is English, and we offer German as a first and second language.

Here in the pre-primary, German learning is immersive and activity-based.

STEM & Creative Arts

Science activities are woven into daily experiences and connected directly to what the child knows.

Students are also exposed to diverse art forms and learn the basic skills, so that they can weave them together as they want.

FAQs

  • Does the Pre-Primary include Grade 0?

Yes, and our Grade 0 is registered with the Ministry of Education.

The Grade 0 is not separate from our pre-primary. Please read why this is so on our "What is Montessori" page.

  • How much does the Pre-Preprimary cost?

    It's N$ 2000 to register and N$ 1976 per month.

Please visit our Tuition & Fees page for more info.

  • How big is a pre-primary class?

Up to 30 children between the ages of 3 and 6 with at least one trained teacher and one assistant.

  • What subjects or activities are offered?

The subjects in our curriculum are integrated with each other. They are based directly on daily life.

So, learning happens while the children explore their surroundings. Available activities can be grouped into Practical Life, Sensorial, Cultural (Environmental Studies) and Maths and Language. For more info on these areas, please go to our "What is Montessori" page.

  • Does One Tree offer sports?

We have partnered with Bubbles Swimming and the Fun Gym to offer swimming classes and gymnastics. These take place during school time at the Pool and Dome, respectively.

Such activities are separate from the school and paid by families directly to the coaches.

  • Why do you teach cursive?

There is a host of research on print vs. cursive. Overall, results are not clear on which is ultimately better.

We teach cursive because fast handwriting connects some letters and it is easier to stop connecting letters than figure out which ones to connect later.

All learning materials, however, are available in print and cursive and children who can write well already, are not forced to change their writing style.
